Johann Friedrich was born on August 28th, 1785 in Oelsnitz, Riesa-Grossenhain, Sachsen. Johann Friedrich's father was Gordian Zorn and his mother was Christiane Dorothea Frank. His paternal grandparents were Johannes Zorn and Magdalena Mendler. He had three brothers and a sister, named Carl August, Christina Sophie, Christian Gottlob and Johanna Magdalena. He was the second oldest of the five children.-
