John Cornelius was born on October 12th, 1887 in Danbury, Woodbury, Iowa, USA.  John Cornelius' father was Franz Michael (Franklin M.) Kesel and his mother was Marion M. Geddes.  His paternal grandparents were Wilhelm Kesel and Johanna Roth. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Frank W., Robert Boone, Charles Edward, William Joseph, Annie, Lizzie, Margaret Maude and Agnes Marie.  He was the youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 72 in April 1960 in Grand Island, Hall, Nebraska, USA.
