Johannes Georg's father was Franciscus Kesel and his mother was Margaritha Müller.  His paternal grandparents were Johannes Georg Kesel and Maria Ursula Krein. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Franz, Joseph, Franz Joseph, Franz Wilhelm, Karl Joseph, Margaretha, Josepha Margaretha, Maria Elisabetha, Maria Catharina and Carolus Josephus.  He was the second oldest of the eleven children. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Johann Georg, Conrad, Konrad and Catharina Elisabetha.  He died at the age of 61 on February 11th, 1818.
